Wedding & Invitation Card Printing in Sivakasi — Wholesale Cards for Retailers and Card Shops

Sivakasi is a national wholesale source of wedding invitations. This page is for the people who resell them — card shops, distributors, event planners and printers — not for couples ordering 300 cards for a wedding.

In short

Wholesale wedding card printing in Sivakasi starts at a MOQ of 1,000 cards per design. A plain 250 GSM art card invitation with an envelope runs ₹8–₹14 per card at 1,000, a foil-stamped card with insert and envelope ₹14–₹25, and a laser-cut card on textured board ₹32–₹68. Lead time is 7–12 days.

If you are getting married, this page is not for you

We print wedding cards wholesale, from 1,000 pieces per design, for people who sell them on. A couple ordering 300 cards for their own wedding should buy from a card shop — including one of the many that buy from Sivakasi — because at 300 cards you are paying a setup charge and getting none of the volume benefit, and because a card shop will hand you a sample album and set your names in an afternoon. Sivakasi's card retailers exist for exactly that, and sending you to one is a better answer than taking your order.

Wholesale card rates by style and quantity

Per card, including one printed insert and one envelope where the style implies them. Names and text are set per order; a design carried across a season is plated once and re-run.

Why Sivakasi supplies card shops across India

A wedding card is a small, high-finish, low-value-per-piece product with a great deal of hand work in it — inserting, envelope stuffing, ribbon tying, box assembly. That combination sits exactly where a cluster economy wins: presses, foil job-workers, die-makers, laser-cutting units and a large seasonal hand-finishing workforce, all within a few kilometres. A card shop in Coimbatore or Hyderabad or Nagpur carries an album of designs, takes an order, and has the names set and the cards run several hundred kilometres away. That is the trade, and it has worked that way for decades.

What this means commercially is that our competition on this page is not other Sivakasi presses. It is the established card houses — Thaai, Suriya Fine Arts, Madan, Eswari, Sri Vinayaga — who have design libraries, sample albums and retailer relationships built over many years. That is a genuine incumbency and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Where a press like ours is useful to a retailer is on volume runs of a settled design, on private-label work where the album is yours rather than ours, and on anything that needs a press schedule held against a season rather than a one-off job.

Timing: the South Indian card season is driven by muhurtham dates and peaks between December and January, with a second run before the April–May dates. Our production window for a settled design is 7–12 days, but in the first fortnight of December the foil and hand-finishing capacity across the cluster is the constraint. A retailer who wants a design in stock for December should be plating it in October.

Styles and community conventions we set routinely

Card styles

  • Hindu Tamil traditional — Ganesha motif, muhurtham panel, separate reception insert
  • Telugu and Kannada formats, which run a different order of names and a different invocation
  • Christian — cross or floral motif, church and reception details, RSVP insert
  • Muslim — Bismillah header, Nikah and Walima details, often with a green or gold palette
  • Contemporary minimal — single-colour foil on textured board, no motif, growing fast in urban resale
  • Scroll, box, padded and laser-cut premium formats for the top of a retailer's album

Finishes we run in-house or in the cluster

  • Gold, silver and coloured foil stamping, with the block stored for re-runs
  • Thermography — raised ink, the traditional Indian wedding card finish
  • Emboss and deboss, blind or foiled, over matt or textured stock
  • Laser cutting on metallic, textured and velvet-finish boards
  • Velvet flocking and glitter application, applied by hand in the cluster
  • Screen-printed opaque whites and metallics on dark stock, which offset cannot lay down

Boards and inserts

The board decides the card's hand-feel, which in a retail album is most of the sale.

Boards are bought in, so their rate moves independently of our press cost

Questions we answer daily

Do you print wedding cards for individual couples?

No. Our minimum is 1,000 cards per design, which is a wholesale quantity. A couple needs 200 to 500 cards and should buy from a card retailer — many of whom source from Sivakasi anyway. At 300 cards you pay a setup charge and get none of the volume benefit, so it is genuinely the wrong route.

What do wholesale wedding cards cost per piece?

A plain 250 GSM art card invitation with an insert and an envelope runs ₹8–₹14 at 1,000 cards and ₹4–₹7 at 25,000. A foil-stamped card runs ₹14–₹25 at 1,000, thermography ₹18–₹34 and a laser-cut card on textured board ₹32–₹68. Boxed and scroll invitations run ₹68–₹195.

Can I sell your designs under my own brand?

Yes. Private-label work is most of what a wholesale press does — the album is yours, the design is yours or licensed by you, and the cards carry no reference to us. We hold the plates and foil blocks against your account so a repeat run through a season needs no re-tooling.

When should a retailer stock for the December season?

Plate in October. The South Indian card season runs on muhurtham dates and peaks December to January, with a second run before the April–May dates. Our production window for a settled design is 7–12 days, but in the first fortnight of December the foil and hand-finishing capacity across the whole cluster is the bottleneck.

Do you set names and text for each order?

Yes, in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and English. Text setting is a plate change on the inner panel while the decorated outer stays as printed stock, which is exactly how the trade keeps a decorated card affordable. Send the text as typed Unicode, not as a photograph of a handwritten draft.

What is thermography and why is it on every Indian wedding card?

A powder is dusted onto wet ink and heat-fused, leaving raised glossy text. It reads like engraving at a fraction of the cost, which is why it became the Indian wedding card standard. It adds roughly ₹4–₹9 a card over plain offset and cannot be used under a lamination.

Can you supply sample kits for my shop album?

Yes. A sample kit of current designs with your own text set in them is chargeable at cost and dispatched in 5–7 days. For an ongoing account we replace the kit each season. It is the single most useful thing a wholesale supplier gives a card retailer and very few presses do it properly.
